Abt’s internship program is a unique opportunity to grow personally and professionally and to contribute to Abt’s mission. As an intern in the office of Abt’s President and CEO, I gained practical and meaningful experience supporting the company strategic planning process, high-level events, administrative projects, and executive communications. I later had opportunities such as supporting operations at the International Project Leaders Conference in Dubai, UAE.

Abt’s internship program provides many opportunities for learning, contributing, networking, and making lifelong friends as part of a vibrant, diverse cohort of interns in a mission-driven, innovative, inspiring work environment.
I was part of the U.S. Health Finance and Contract Analyst team in summer 2016. I worked with many highly talented and brilliant individuals, all of whom were remarkably helpful in my development. The culture at Abt is very warm and welcoming; I always was considered a genuine member of the team. The program provided me with invaluable experience and networking opportunities.   I worked with the Health Finance and Governance (HFG) project on a study that explored the expansion of health coverage to informal workers in countries with poor maternal and child health and family planning outcomes.
Engaging in this study and learning about the other activities under HFG and Abt’s International Health team greatly enhanced my understanding of health systems functions and the realities of public health work in low- to moderate-income countries. I also was grateful for the opportunity to work closely with highly experienced and knowledgeable public health professionals. My experience confirmed my interest in international health and made me all the more excited to pursue in it.
